I really have nothing else to write about, so this is gonna be one of those “what I have been up to” posts. Here I will talk about stuff. Stuff that I have watched/played recently and want to talk about. Consider these to be short reviews. Maybe I’ll do more of these since I’m apparently too lazy to write full reviews. God damn, I suck.
THING I WANT TO TALK ABOUT #1: R.O.D. THE TV
Because I am a sucker for Aniplex and their hideously overpriced releases, I decided to spend about $150 on an anime I had never seen before. So I bought the R.O.D. Read or Die Blu-ray box, which contains the 3-episode OVA and the 26-episode TV series.
Usually when people talk about R.O.D., they’re talking about the OVA. The OVA is indeed pretty awesome, but I actually thought the TV series was even better. I really like stories that involve supernatural thingamajigs and evil people taking over the world, and this series has that.
Let the records show that while I really like cutesy moe stuff, I happen to like badass girls even more. Any show that involves girls kicking butt is almost an instant win. This show has that, too.
The story follows three girls who come between the plots of Dokusensha – some evil organization hell-bent on taking over the world – and the British Library – another evil organization hell-bent on taking over the world. The girls are paper masters, meaning they can control paper WITH THEIR MINDS. That’s pretty cool! At least I thought it was. Using that power, they do some pretty crazy shit, like throw paper weapons, make paper shields, and fly giant paper airplanes.
THING I WANT TO TALK ABOUT #2: YURU YURI
When I first checked out Yuru Yuri, I didn’t really care for it. Clearly, I was an idiot.
Recently, I decided to give it another shot, and damn is it fucking hysterical. This is one of the few anime out there that literally had me laughing out loud consistently.
One great thing about Yuru Yuri is it’s actually a good show. It doesn’t rely solely on fanservice or moe (not that I’m one to ever complain about those things; but many people do get turned off by them) and instead actually tries to be a legitimately entertaining show. The jokes are pretty genuine, and yeah, there are some clichés, but even those were handled in a way that they were actually funny. And the show is pretty well-animated to boot.
THING I WANT TO TALK ABOUT #3: DOG DAYS
Dog Days is a pretty terrible show but I kinda enjoyed it. It’s about this guy named Sink (yes, that’s his name, let that sink in for a minute…) who gets magically transported to a fantasy world where kingdoms war with each other like it’s some kind of game. By the power of MAGIC, no one actually dies in battle, so yeah. The only reason I watched this show is Eclair (pictured above).
In addition to Eclair, there are also characters named Biscotti, Ricotta, and Panettone. This fat man approves.
THING I WANT TO TALK ABOUT #4: BORDERLANDS 2
Borderlands 2 is almost exactly like Borderlands 1. It’s more of the same stuff, and in the case of Borderlands, that’s not a bad thing at all. It’s funny, addicting as all hell, and sure to waste away dozens of hours of your life.
Despite the Moe Moe Mechromancer being pictured above, I actually spent most of my time with this game playing as Axton, the Commando, who can lay down turrets that tear enemies to shreds. The turret is also his waifu. Oh, and there’s Handsome Jack, who is one of the best video game villains I have ever seen. He also likes ponies.
If you liked Borderlands 1, you’ll like Borderlands 2. If you didn’t like Borderlands 1, well, you’re probably an idiot.
THING I WANT TO TALK ABOUT #5: STRIKE WITCHES 2
It’s good. Buy it.

THANK YOU! (regarding Yuru Yuri)
You’re welcome! I don’t understand how anyone could hate that show…
